Enjoyed your site, Alan. Planning to visit Cornwall within the next year. Also
trying to research my family roots. Family name was Trefethen. Our ancestor left
in 1690, so it has been difficult to trace back to Cornwall. Would appreciate
any info... Thanks Alan TTFN

I'm finally discovering my Cornish roots! Nicholas Dowrick emigrated to
Pennsylania, USA, in 1850s along with siblings, Stephen and Elizabeth. Their
parents were William Dowrick (Dowrack) and Bridget Johns who lived in Trewartha
and Veryan.

Canada and the US. Other names connected with our family include: Nettle;

of making Cornish Connections.

Wonderful site! My GGF, Joseph Rowett, was born in 1834 (sounds astounding, but
he married late!) in E. Looe, Cornwall, youngest of 10 children born to Thomas
and ? Rowett. Three siblings emigrated to Australia in the 1850's, and he and
brother, Richard Rowett, emigrated to Carlinville, Illinois. They weren't miners
in the new country, from what I understand, but clerked and worked various jobs
til they could buy a horse farm and raise thoroughbreds. Richard brought the
first Beagle hounds to the States and wrote the standard for Beagles in the
American Kennel Club. He was breveted general in War Between the States, Joe was
a captain. I have nothing on the Rowetts in E. Looe, other than the names of
some other siblings. Can anyone enlighten me? I was helping my mother get her
passport in order for our dream trip to Cornwall and to Dublin, when she became
ill and died. If Cornwall, not Texas (where she lived), is heaven, maybe she
made it after all...

My ancestors were Cornish originally from Ludgvan and Penzance. During a trip to
the UK on February, I visited my grandparents land. It's amazing and beautiful. I'm proud of my
Cornish roots. Hope to go back to that magical land.
