Michael Rescorle BSc in Southampton at 15:37:3 Friday December 24 99
I was born and educated in Camborne, Cornwall but joined the Army in 1965 and have not lived there since. I still visit at least twice a year. All my family are Cornish (I'm the only one who left) and I am now looking to research the family tree. Rescorle stems from 2 Cornish words; Ros meaning hill and Corlan meaning sheepfold/ford but has been corrupted over the centuries. There is a locality called Rescorla (a farm) near Lostwithiel and it is on a hill and you have to cross the site of an old ford to get to it, so I guess the name is about right. Dates from about 1600s. Planning to use your genealogy link coupled with a Family Tree maker on CD Rom, and links to various Internet research sites, to find my ancestors. Will stop if I find any evidence of smugglers or wreckers who fell foul of the authorites! Regards. Michael

On holiday in Cornwall a few years ago I decided tot take the plunge and open my own complementary health clinic. We stayed in Mullion or port Mellin so I decided to call the clinic Tremellin. The past few years cliënt have often asked me for the meaning of the word tremellin and I told them the stoy on how I "made up the name". A few days ago we got our own .com address and guess what : tremellin is not a made up name at all. What a surprise !!

I recently learned that my MURLIN family line was part of St. Stephens Parish in Cornwall -- they emigrated to America prior to the Revolution. I believe that I am part of the Richard MURLIN line which includes William MURLIN-John MURLIN-William MURLIN (my gg-grandfather) and Abram MURLIN b. near St. Mary's Mercer Co. OH in early 1800s. He md. Matilda A. SHIRLEY 26 Jun 1869 in Miami Co. KS. Matilda SHIRLEY was descended from Walter SHIRLEY. As I am just learning about the possible Cornwall connection at St. Stephen's parish, I am interested in learning more of what records are available online or by mail.
