Great to find a site dedicated to Kernow being visited by lots of Cornishmen from around the world. I grew up in Marazion, and go back as often as I can. I know there are many other young Cornish people like myself who are proud to be Cornish, even if they don't realise it until they leave home. Why not show everyone where your heart lies and get a tattoo of the Cornish flag, it's more original than a tea-towel.

David Gay in Bodmin, Cornwall at 23:9:16 Friday October 20 2000
I am researching my family tree. My father [Albert]& grandmother [nee Sarah Jane Nancarrow]were born in Helston and my maternal grandmother was a Job from the St Agnes area. My maternal grandfather was a Northey from Dutson, Launceston who moved to the Stenalees area. I have researched back to 1815 but I can find no trace of my fathers father - he is not named on his Birth Certificate! However, his older brothers & sisters father is named as Richard Henry Gay.
Anyone who may be able to shed any light would you please get in touch? I'd be ever so grateful.
by the way, I'm impressed with your website -keep it up and I'll be back regularly.

Thank you for a very informative and interesting site, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and have used some of your links to great satisfaction as well particularly those regarding the cornish language, which I have always pondered on. My grandfather was born in St German's and had a number of strange things he would say much to our amusement as young children.
Well once again thanks Alan

My father was born in Redruth and all my relatives live in and around Falmouth. Having spent a year in the UK (1999-2000), I had the chance to spend more time than usual at 'home'. Managed to head back the Derek Tangye's old home - where I had visited him back in 1992 - he was a great man. Missing Cornwall like crazy, but can't wait to head back again soon!

Great site! Visited it trying to find where to buy "Cornish Blue" ware for a friend but got sucked in.
We have traced our family to Cornwall. Great Grandmother Grace Curnow of Gulval. Grandfathers father unknown, possibly an Amos Mason Lavers but unable to prove. If anyone out there knows of any Lavers family history would be interested, or indeed any descendants of James Curnow and Jane Russell, married 1844. Have visited where family came from and felt at home.

I'm not a serious geneologist, but might be able to help one with an
interest in Mitchells. I'm a grandson of Thomas Mitchell, born in
Cambourne, Cornwall, who emigrated to the United States as a teen-aged
miner in the early part of the twentieth century, and never returned to
the UK. The oldest of his seven daughters married a Bawden whose family
was also from Cambourne, and she is the only member of the family, to my
knowledge, to visit Cornwall. I'm a son of his second daughter, and am
curious about my grandfather, who died before I was born in 1951. I live in a nation of immigrants, and my ancestors came from Scotland, England, Ireland and Denmark to my knowledge. I would like my children to get a sense of their pre-American heritage.

Grew up in Launceston moved away years ago
and love the website, brings back memories,
being young and care free, tea times of cornish cream
blackberries (hard to get here and do not taste the same)
And mostly the ocean, the smells, fresh fish
and last but not least the cornish pasty and saffron cakes that my grandmother
always made. Have been back a few times when my kids wre small, but now have a desire
to bring the grandchildren, maybe next year.
They say you can never go back to where you where brought up, sometimes that is true and sometimes not.
Any one else out their who grew up in Launceston, went to school at Pennygilliam?
