Ok now I have only been to the guest book, so far, and I have found it very interesting to read what others have to say. I will be back to investigate more. Thank you for the chance for an adventure in a land I have only seen pictures and heard about. See you again .. soon :-) CR

Great site Alan. My girlfriend and I don't get home to Pensilva in Cornwall nearly as much as I'd like too. Like you I'm a teacher although I trained in Chester and am now teaching in Middlesbrough.

Tom Treloar in Tucson, AZ at 3:3:34 Saturday February 24 2001
I actually live in Spokane, WA but go to school in Tucson. My dad always told me that pirates lived in Cornwall...and that the reason that there are so many Treloars in Australia is because they were all criminals...I was just checking to see if it was true or not...someday I would definitely like to visit.

Gareth Herring in Canterbury, Kent at 20:3:30 Monday February 19 2001
I'm not far from the Motherland, but I still pine for pasties (with proper ingredients) and my family. Having spent 15 months in Australia in 1997/8 and catching up with long lost family in Brisbane, then seeing how nostalgic all the Cornish ex-pats had become, I decided to pay a keener interest in surely one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Cornwall is so familiar to me as to be almost taken for granted, and yet I couldn't be without it. Having read loads of the comments here, it's clear many people feel the same. Thank-you for your work.

Our choir 'The Spirit Singers of the Bruce Peninsula' hosted the Kessenyan Singers from Torpoint in '96 and '99. We visited them in '97 and 2000 and we hope they will come over again next year. We are all in love with Cornwall and now we have many good friends there. We sing 'Trelawney' with them and we also sing another 'Cornish Anthem'(in Cornish.) 'A Gernow whek ma gref mar dek/ dha dyr-ethn a grys/ yun gwell ol an bys/ ywter dev vor dha gona dor/ ystennes yu ynmes pen ken/ sa ol an whles a Gernow whek/ A Gernow whek.' (Forgive spelling mistakes please!)I was born in Romford, Essex, but I went to school in Cornwall for a while and Cornwall is always in my heart. I have a brother who lives in Bude so we visit often. I have walked the Saints Way and much of the coastal path. It's (a) grand country! And this site is great. Thank you!

Janie Richards in Queensland, Australia at 3:32:29 Sunday January 21 2001
My father Calvin Richards was born in Helston Cornwall in 1932 and emmigrated to Canada in 1950. His father was Thomas Richards and his mum Janie Pascoe Richards. I would love to hear from any "relies". I had thought I would check out my roots and came across this site. I am a wee bit daunted that there are so many Richards especially in Cornwall. So far I have learned that we were a prolific bunch!!

I really enjoyed your site. Seeing the recipes for pasties, and saffron buns makes me think of my grandparents, from Cornwall. Their names were Garfield and Mary Jane Sampson Uren. I hope to be traveling to Cornwall this year sometime and hope to find out more about my cornish background. I didn't see recipes for heavy cake or plum pudding, also two family favorites. Keep up the good work.
