What a great sight! Very informative! I am looking for any of my DAWE relatives. The Dawe's originally appear to have come from Redruth and close to the Devon Cornwall border Lewannick. We have as far back as John Dawe who married Mary Gloyne 1757 they had a son Stephen. Any decendants out there?

I am pleased to be making another visit to your site. My Kevern / Tripconey Grandparents came over to New Zealand way back in 1875. Both were born in St. Keverne and my cousin Dallas and I came over to help celebrate the 500year march from St Kevern to London back 1n 1997. We walked all over the place and loved Cornwall, hope we can return. Still trying to trace relatives, but it's not easy. Congratulations on your wonderful site, Alan. Olive

Though I'm American, I share a common love. The pasty is a treat prepared in the Upper Peninsula region in the U.S. state of Michigan. My family lives there and no doubt some of my ancestors were, or at least knew some 19th century miners who bought the treat with them to Michigan from Cornwall. The area once drew miners from Cornwall who helped mine Michigan's copper and iron deposits. Any comments? Please respond as I am doing some research for a new book. Thanks and God bless.

Geraldine Duncann in Sonoma co. California at 16:23:50 Sunday March 25 2001
I'm looking for an old friend. She's remarried and I don't know her last name. Her first name is Carol. She lives in Carn Bray Lane Cottage, Carnke near Redruth. Carn Bray is where the third bonfire is lit on Mid Sumers Eve. I would realy like to get in touch with her. I know that her local was The Wheele Basset in Carnke. I may be spelling everything wrong. She taught me to make the world's best pasties. She is in a clogging team and both her sons were morris men. She tought me so much wonderful stuff about Cornwall. How I miss baking bread and pasties on her Cornish range in her wonbderful cottage. I miss cornwall dreadefully and wish I could visit Carol and her three wonderful children again. I miss picknicking at the Men an tol. I miss the 'oss. In fact, an old jaw of the red 'oss lives on top of my computer.
I'm sure you have better things to do with your time than look up old friends for heart sick Californians, but if you have a spare minuite and can somehow get me in touch with her I would be verry grateful.
If you ever wanted any information about California, the Sonoma County wine country, where I live, recipes, etc. I'd be glad to sent it to you.
I am a cookbook author and cooking instructor and have written a lot about Cornwall and Cornish cooking.
I first met Carol because I was singing at the folk club she and her first husband ran. That was about a billion years ago. My group and I stayed at Brenda Wooton's house. (sorry about all my miss spellings. I'm quite dyslexic and there isn't any spell check here.
I hope this long message hasn't been an inconvience to you.
If nothing else, can you go have a pint of Spingo at the Blue Anchor for me.
Thankyou for yur time and pacience,
Gerladine

I am a first generation, American born Cornishman. I have returned to Cornwall several times and lived there for about 6 months in the late 1940's when I was in my teens. My brother and I and our families are all that is in America. The rest of our family is still living in the area of Camborne in Cornwall. My wife's family is all from Mousehole, Cornwall. Her family name is Harvey. There are quite a number of her people still there in Mousehole. I love Cornwall and my Cornish heritage. I am ready for a trip back again anytime.
