I was at St. Austell Boys Grammar from 1960 (when all boys!) to 1967 and still remember John Nettles (alias Bergerac).I suppose I missed any 25 year reunion as it's now 34 years since I left school. I've only met Gavin and Sally Carter and Lloyd Rideout since then. I still go home to St. Austell to see my mum during the summer. Can just about remember some of the old school class:- Allan, Bassett, Blake, Breach, Carter, Chadwick, Collier, Coxon and so on. Wonder how many are still alive?

Charlie Annear in Poole Dorset at 16:16:41 Wednesday June 27 2001
Hello, I'm originally from Bodmin, and now living in Dorset with my Dorsetshire wife Diane, spreading the word about Kernow. Proper Cornish myself (Hi Mum & Dad), I spend many an hour educating friends, and those within earshot just what this means. I once managed to convince a group of Scots that the Cornish were every bit as non-English as them, and that took me a week. I was almost able to convince a whole Stag Party of Welsh this weekend (with help from Matt- Hi Matt!), but ran out of time! (I'll have another go at the wedding, send out some literature, and point them towards this site!) Great job Alan! Charlie

My wife Catherine and I took a trip to Cornwall two years ago. We stayed in Bodmin and did day trips. I immediately felt connected to this wonderful place as I am originally from the State of Maine. All of my life I have been told bits about my ancestory and its roots in Cornwall. I feel very connected to this magical part of the world and look forward to an early return.

I'm heading back to Kernow soon for a short holiday before taking up work in London, so you can bet I'll be back here. Thank you!

There is nothing like a good Australian Cornish Pastie. I am lookin for ODGERS, brothers William & George both drowned in Wisconsin [cramped from crook pasties no doubt]. Williams widow, Grace, reverted to her maiden name of Edwards and remarried to a Mr. Bennett and they migrated to Victoria Australia as did her son William Jnr. who migrated to Ravenswood in Queensland where he operated a gold mine called Happy Go Lucky. Don't know If found much gold but no doubt found the Worlds Best Pasties.

Enjoyed the recipes and the jokes. Went back to Cornwall in April for the first time in ten years. It brought back so many great memories I'm now planning a long holiday in Falmouth/Flushing/St. Mawes and Mylor area where my father's family originated. My great-grandfather was Falmouth's last Town Crier; apparently there's a painting of him somewhere in the town. It would be great if someone on here knew its location. His wife used to keep The Miner's (Mason's?) Arms on The Moor. Keep up the good work, me 'andsome!

Hi! Lovely to find something Cornish. I am a New Zealander of Cornish and Scottish decent currently living(stuck) in the mid west of America. Yuk. There is an attempt here to get together a Cornish Society but there tends to be alot of in house bickering and I am better than you are so I decided to steer clear of that and find something on my own. So here I am. I will now brouse through the guest book and have a read and will get back in a while. Look forward to what you can teach me as there is so little I know of my Cornish ancestors. Bye for now. Franni.

Thank you, Pam and Ricky, for your comments but as you can see I've deleted the offending entries. I've come to expect that sort of thing. It is the same mentality as the 'persons' who throw rubbish and used condoms, etc. into the church grounds and graffiti on public buildings. Also, just like the bulk of the defacing of building the disgusting comments occasionally put into guestbooks are always anonymous with no linking e-mail address.

Ricky in Manchester at 21:56:47 Thursday May 24 2001
I agree with Pam. This site is a valuable forum for Cornish people to share what we have in common and to debate what we disagree over. I suggest that these inane entries which have been removed be reported to appropriate authorities along with IP addresses.

Allen Ross Warmington in south euclid, ohio at 16:0:11 Sunday May 13 2001
Comment? Several: 1. Some search engine said this site had something to do with "Warmington." My name's Warmington. It runs in the family; has for some thirteen hundred years, with variants on spelling due to Runes and Old English thatis all but unintelligible to the modern ear and eye except for perhaps Beowulf. Have been to "the old country." There are two villages named after Warmington Over There. Didn't know that whence there. Have extensive genealogy on Origins and History of Surname. Mine. Not yours. Unless it's the same. Affected English Spelling accepted. No snide anti-Yank jokes unless they're funny. Being born in Cleveland, Ohio was and is something of a joke itself. So's the city. Run by total idiots. Cleveland should be returned to The Crown and let Betty Windsor own it from Her Disunited Queendom. The natives will never notice the difference. 2. N/A

Hi! I'm Carolyn Odgers Roberts Montgomery. My grandfather's family emigrated here to the gold country in the 1850's to Nevada City, California which was nicknamed "Little Cornwall." They were hard rock miners who were brought over to get the remaining gold out of the ground after the initial gold rush of the 1840's. My grandfather always said that if I met another Odgers out here we would be related. I love your website and hope to keep up on what is happening there. Thanks for your efforts!
