My Dorset born grandmother, Martha Hurst King, went to live with her widowed
sister, my great aunt Betty(Ada Parker) whose husband, Uncle Jack (Parker) had
been the coastguard at Sennen Cove. I spent two delightful vacations at Bosorne
St, St Just when I was 11( in 1945) and 15. and still have pieces of Amethyst
from the tin mine dumps. I would love to show this area to my daughter and
grandchildren. Any Parkers out there?- Joyce ( Muriel) King Duval

Just surfing all things Cornish and found this excellent website. I'm from
Camborne, Cornwall, and am wondering if there are any other Cornishmen (or
women) out here in Wisconsin too. I know many Cornish folk came and settled here
in Wisconsin in the 19th century and would love to hear from any others who love
Cornwall too.

I like your site, Alan! I especially enjoyed the Cornish jokes and "phrases". I
went to Looe (Logh) recently on a short holiday with some friends, where I
bought a large St. Piran flag which I later wore to a Radiohead concert. Since
then I have become interested in Cornwall as more than just an "English" county.
I would like to see it get similar independant status to Wales, and I think more
should be done with the language. It's sad that you live in Essex rather than
Cornwall. For a gent of your age, this site is very youthful and extremely well
put together. Keep it going!

My father Edwin Keam is from Luxulyan and my fabulous cousins are there, as well
as in Par and Truro (and Wiltshire and Salsbury). Looking forward to a return to
Cornwall in the summer of 2003!! Can't wait!

Hi Alan, Just happened upon your website,I will be visiting it regularly.I am
Cornish, moving to Canada from Penzance after the Closing of Geevor Tin Mine in
1985 due to the tin price collapse(what a sad end to era). It's been 13 years
since I was last home and had my pasty fix or a nice meal of mackeral. Next year
I'm hoping to return with my son; telling your children of your childhood antics
and how Kernow is GOD'S County is hard from photo's, websites etc.Great site and

My grandfather came from Barripper, Camborne. His family were tinners and I've
been back there quite a few times. I miss it there and wish I could live and
work there. My favourite place of all is St. Ives. I know I haven't seen all of
Cornwall and hope to one day. Jane

Found your website searching under Tregellas. Someone asked the question where
can they view The Tregellas Tapestry. From later this year/early next all 58
panels portraying the Story of Cornwall will be on display in the newly
refurbished Cornish Centre at Alma Place, Redruth. The Tapestry was the brainchild of my late
mother, Rita Tregellas Pope, a Cornish Bard.

My late wife's grandfather was John Squire Shopland [born 17 Aug 1849, in Parr,
Cornwall], married to Jane Salkeld [born 18 Nov 1852 in Goderich, Ontario,
Canada]. So far we have found John's parents to be a William Shopland, whose
wife was ???? Squire. Would appreciate any relevant info.
