Had a lovely visit to Cornwall, my ancestors were from this area. Baptised Crowan Parish. Pearce, Waters, Osborne, Williams, Furze/Furse. Anyone out there searching for any of the above names? The Pearces' came to California in the 1870's or there-abouts. They were miners, some worked The Almaden Mines, in Northern California.

Excuse everyone, yesterday I signed your guest book and made a few errors with my e-mail address. However, I mentioned to you that my Father's cousin Maree Goodacre must be around 80, lives in Australia and for what I can gather, her mother might have had last name Hurley, Perhaps Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hurley. My Father Thomas Hurley is still alive but does not remember much although he exchanged many letters with her while they were young and back in 1975 he visited her in Australia. I do not know her husband's surname but do have a picture of them and would love to know what is going on with them. I hope they are still alive and look forward to finding them or their sons and daughter. I pray for this information to be accurate and help in my search as I am working in my Family Tree.
Thanks, kind regards and Merry Christmas to all the Goodacres.

Dear Harley, Although we may have no relation what so ever, I am searching for my Aunt Maree Goodacre. I believe her mother's last name was Hurley (Lizzie Hurley). My Father was born in Chile when my Grand Father settled in Chile after fighting the Boer War as Sergeant Major with the NSW Citizens' Bushmen. I have some letters my father exchanged with his cousin Maree as well as a photo of both taken while Dad visited Australia back in 1975. If there is anything you can possibly do to contact her (she would now be about 80) or anyone in her family, I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks and best regards

Jim from Newcastle, I think you mean Kernow is as much a part of Britain as Wales, Scotland and England, as Kernow is not part of England and Northern Ireland is not part of Britain, but the United Kingdom. Anyway in my eyes as it is in many others, Northern Ireland or Ulster, is not part of the United Kingdom but a province of the Republic of Ireland, and being an anti monarchist,
I don't believe in the United Kingdom, just Britain, consisting of Kernow, Wales, Isle of Man, Scotland and England.

HELSTON PUDDING RECIPE
Here's a great traditional Cornish recipe as served last Wednesday at the Old Cornwall Societies Dinner.
Serves 4-6
Self-raising flour - 50g (2 oz)
Ground rice - 50g (2 oz)
Fresh breadcrumbs - 50g (2 oz)
Raisins or sultanas - 50g (2 oz)
Currants - 50g (2 oz)
Dried apricots - 50g (2 oz), chopped
Soft brown sugar - 50g (2 oz)
Shredded suet - 75g (3 oz)
Grated nutmeg - 1 tsp
Bicarbonate of soda - ¼ tsp
Milk - to mix
METHOD
1. Sieve the flour, then mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Add enough milk to produce a soft dropping
consistency and stir well.
3. Place into a buttered 1.1 litre (2 pint) pudding basin.
4. Cover with foil and tie on tightly.
5. Place bowl in a large saucepan with boiling water and cover.

Hi Alan
what can I say. Cornwall is the most magical place on EARTH. I have visited there a few times. Last year i missed out but
I am hoping to be over this year and I have never felt such magic in my life. I felt i had come home. Even though
I was born in Italy and moved to Australia as a child. I visited most of Cornwall by train as
I don't drive and every place was amazing. I paint and I did a painting of Land's End.. I am very proud of it and my teacher gave me a compliment that my painting came from my heart. I would love to email it to you... Cornwall and its people are very magical. My dream is one day to live there. I have never felt such peace and
tranquillity in my life as i did in Cornwall.
Take care, Rosie

He had had a horse drawn bus which did carry passengers and travelled from

Hello, everyone, all over the world who is proud to be Cornish. This is a sad time for
Cornish folk still in their native homeland as. it seems that our homeland is being hacked apart and sold to the highest bidder.
We and thousands of others have no chance of owning a piece of Cornwall as wages are low and house prices are so silly its almost laughable.
Anyone over seas who would like to know how much their old property is valued at now we would be happy to e-mail you with details so you could have a good laugh too and even cry! any

We would also like to hear from any Cornish kiwis or Cornish aussies! Enough of the moans, now, an emmet (someone north of the

Hello!
I am a Derek Tangye fan! I have read all his books more than once. Just like Jeannie and Derek I am a cat lover and also a lover of nature. I wish I had been able to visit them when they were still alive, I think we would have been on the same wavelength (as Derek says in his books!). I particularly approve of their criticism of the shallowness of today's society. I know Derek Tangye's books so well, almost by heart, some passages at least, that I suppose I could visit Minack blind-folded and still find my way around! I visited Cornwall years ago but I hadn't read Derek's books then and I didn't know about Minack at all unfortunately. That was back in the early eighties and I could have met them.
It was nice talking to you. Thank you for the very nice website, it is nice to hear that people share your tastes and values.
Take care.

Good Morning! My name is Cornwall which descends from Richard Earl of Cornwall. My ancestor came to establish the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1632 as personal bodyguard for Governor John Winthrop, first Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. I have only connected with my Cornish History in the last few years as I am now 64 and interested in such things. My business has been in the Gift & Decorative Accessory Industry as well as my father before me and now my son. I have this desire to gather products of all kinds from Cornwall that could be marketed in the US similar to what the Irish are now doing. In order for this to work the Cornwall Economic Development people would have to participate as the cost initially would be prohibitive particularly in these times. ANY IDEAS? Sincerely, Stanley H. hi alan! we think your web site is brilliant we found it particularly funny as we are great friends we a very
Cornish farmer from St. Columb Major who is also called Alan Richards, we wound him up a treat.
We particularly liked the Cornish jokes, and the Cornish dialect page, we were telling them to some friends of ours who are from the midlands and now live here but they just didn't get it! so we've ad to copy it out for em to work through on their own as they always end up looking right turnips when they meet people and ain't got a clue what they're on about. We took em to a farm sale/auction the other day and the look on
their faces was priceless when they saw about 50 or so Cornish farmers with no teeth and limps speaking words they didn't understand all trying to outbid each other for a worn out tractor which must of been about 100 years old. farm sales/auctions av become a
Cornish institution, maybe you should put something on your site about them we could provide you with some excellent stories. Well keep up the wonderful site and our love of everything
